The initial quarter illustrates the sun, while the second quarter focuses on the electric system. In essence, it conveys that the car operates its electrical system entirely through solar power.

Moving on, the third and fourth quarters highlight the mechanical systems. The inclusion of the 'bolt' symbolizes that the mechanical components, primarily the gear (or sprocket), and ultimately the wheels, are powered by the electric system.

Ultimately, the presence of the "checkered" logo signifies our commitment to racing our cars

Team SolarMobil is Manipal Academy of Higher Education's official solar racing team, initiated with the ambition and passion for bringing solar-powered vehicles to commercial use; it stands by its commitment to battling climate change with sustainable technology for the last eleven years since its founding.

We proudly hold the distinction of having built India's first two-seater and four-seater solar electric passenger vehicles. Currently, we are manufacturing our sixth vehicle- which will participate in the Electric Solar Vehicle Championship, 2025.

To become a leading student centre of research and development in the field of green transportation with a focus on solar passenger vehicles in the next five years.

To fabricate a high performance adventure class Solar Electric Vehicle and to focus on the practicality and feasibility of the vehicle for daily use. We aim to build upon the success of past projects.

OUR PROJECTS

FREYR (2011)

Freyr was a single-seater, three-wheeled solar racing car. The car marked the inception of SolarMobil in 2011. The car aimed to revolutionize the Indian automobile industry by showcasing the potential of solar energy in powering vehicles as a viable option instead of fossil fuels and easing the pressure on EV charging stations.

SERVE(2015)

SERVe (Solar Electric Road Vehicle) was India's first two-seater solar electric passenger car. It was powered by a flexible solar panel and boasted a 21" touchscreen dashboard.It was made in the year 2015. It was capable of a top speed of 65 kmph and had a range of about 250 km.

SM S-1(2017)

India’s first four seater passenger vehicle was built in 2016. It won several awards, finishing first in the ASME Design Challenge and third in Anveshan, under the Association of Indian Universities(AUI), New Delhi, 2017.

SM S-2(2018)

SM-S2 was the 4th project undertaken by the team and was built in 2018. It was a two-seater cruiser-class car built in accordance with the World Solar Challenge guidelines. The car could hit a top speed of 97kmph and travel a maximum distance of 350km on a single charge. It featured an underbody tunnel running the entire length to enhance the aerodynamics.

ZENITH(2022)

Zenith, the perfect fusion of technology and sustainability, is the 5th project undertaken by the team and was built in the year 2022. It is a single-seater adventure class solar car and has also taken part in 2 major competitions in 2023, namely SEVC and ESVC- winning in most of them.

HELIARK(2025)

Heliark is our latest endeavour- with a revolutionary tadpole configuration having a drag coefficient of 0.16, flexible monocrystalline solar panels from TATA Power Solar, an Arm Cortex M7-based custom ECU running FreeRTOS, all backed by a robust strategy model following the Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) Algorithm.It was built in the year 2025.
